These are some burning questions in the mind of the students who want to pursue B.Ed. Ignou offers a Bachelor of Arts degree under distance mode. Thus these questions are obvious. In this article, we will discuss about the validity of Ignou B.Ed. Course.

First of all, you should make sure that you do any degree course in India must have UGC recognition and if it is a College it must have an affiliation to a UGC recognized University and must have AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) approval for all technical courses. For teaching courses like D.El.Ed. or B.Ed. it should be NCTE approved.

Now the main question is B.Ed. through distance education mode, is Valid or not?

So friends, Most of the Private Universities in India and other government Universities in India (Except IGNOU) has stopped offering B.Ed. course through distance mode because this is not being accepted for Central Government jobs in teaching filed. And that is the reason B.Ed. course is not being offered by many Universities under Distance Mode. But yes, you can do it as an Academic Program adding one more qualification in your profile because B.Ed. from distance mode is Valid for many other jobs other than central government teachers, you may do a Job as a private tutor, a professor in private Colleges/ Universities and so on.

Eligibility Criteria for doing B.Ed. from Ignou

1. First Requirement

At least fifty per cent marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanity. Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto,

2. Second Requirement

The following categories are eligible to be students of B.Ed. (ODL):

(i)         Trained in-service teachers in elementary education.

(ii)        Candidates who have completed an NCTE recognized teacher education programme through face-to-face mode.
(यानी की आपने नेशनल कॉउन्सिल फॉर टीचर्स एजुकेशन (NCTE) द्वारा एप्रूव्ड टीचिंग फील्ड का कोई कोर्स पहले से किया हुआ है और Elementary Level के अध्यापक आप पहले से हैं और बाकायदा सर्विस दे रहे हैं)

• The reservation and relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility will be provided to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PWD candidates as per the rules of the Central Government.
• Reservation to Kashmiri Migrants and war widow candidates will be provided as per the University Rules.

3. Third Requirement

Student Must Clear the Ignou B.Ed. Entrance Exam to apply for B.Ed. in IGNOU.

SO, the moral of the story is that doing B.Ed. from the IGNOU is not an easy job, and this is for those who are already trained teacher under elementary education and have done NCTE recognized teacher education course through face to face mode (Regular Mode).

(NCTE Recognized teacher education courses means any Diploma Course which is approved by NCTE. National Council for Teachers Education-NCTE is Regulatory body for all teacher’s training-related courses. B.Ed. is also an NCTE Approved Course)

If you qualify this eligibility criteria and complete the B.Ed. Degree from IGNOU it is 100% Genuine and Valid for all the Government jobs and Private Jobs.
