Aim of the Open Board
National Institute of open schooling was founded on 3rd November 1989 and its headquarter is in Noida currently. Before 2002 it was “National Open School” after 2002 it was renamed to National Institute of Open Schooling.
This board is an Initiative of MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) of Union Government of India, with an aim to provide education to all with more flexibility. Open board allows students to study from home if they are unable to attend regular classes due to other obligations.

Q. Can I apply for MBBS after Open Board? Is NIOS valid for MBBS?
Ans. YES! MBBS applicants, need to clear NEET. And in a recent verdict, Delhi High Court allows NIOS Students who have not gone under classroom training to appear for NEET exams. NIOS qualification is valid and student can appear for NEET. If you clear the NEET (UG) Exam you can join MBBS.
Q. What is the passing marks out of 100 in Nios?
Ans. You must score a minimum of 33% out of 100 marks. In 10th class, you should clear all 6 subjects however 12th class students need to clear minimum 5 subjects with 33% marks, and if one is failed in any 6th subject then also eligible for pass certification.
